About Us

Serving adult educators statewide, MACAE provides a stimulating social and intellectual network of colleagues and ideas. Our members work in a variety of settings:

• adult basic education and community ed programs
• colleges and universities
• public, vocational, and extension schools
• libraries and literacy programs
• health care and human services
• cultural, religious, volunteer, and other community groups

Committed to education and its role in building a just society, we seek to foster mutual respect and understanding among people, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, age, or sexual preference. We are affiliated with the seven-state Missouri Valley Adult Education Association (MVAEA).

MACAE is a professional association of adult educators that provides social and intellectual vitality to its members. We achieve this by:

• Promoting the professional growth and intellectual development of its members
• Serving as an advocate for adults in gaining access to educational resources and opportunities
• Fostering understanding of critical issues facing society and why its members should be involved
• Advancing lifelong learning by focusing on continuing adult education
• Improving the practice of adult education
• Collaborating with individuals and organizations to promote quality education for adult learners.

MACAE Governance

The Minnesota Adult Continuing Education Association is led by an elected board of directors, which reports to its parent organization, the Missouri Valley Adult Education Association. MACAE’s committees are staffed by members on a voluntary basis; committee service is greatly appreciated.
