The mission of MVAEA is to serve as an instrument of cooperation among individuals and organizations which are engaged in (or interested in) any phase of adult education within the Missouri Valley Region. MVAEA is an affiliation of seven states: Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
 
American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (http://www.aaace.org/)

AAACE provides leadership for the field of adult and continuing education by:
  • expanding opportunities for adult growth and development;
  • unifying adult educators;

  • fostering the development and dissemination of theory, research, information, and best practices;
  • promoting identity and standards for the profession; and

  • advocating relevant public policy and social change initiatives.
 
Minnesota Independent Scholars Forum (http://www.mnindependentscholars.org/)

MISF has a three-fold mission to benefit and support:

  1. The Scholar: to promote free inquiry and encourage research, writing, and publication of original work toward the advancement of science, arts, and the humanities;

The Mentor is a free electronic publication about academic advising in higher education. The goal of this journal (available only on the Web) is to provide a mechanism for the rapid dissemination of new ideas about advising and for ongoing discourse about advising issues.
