Director, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Curriculum Alignment

Position Summary

This new program director position will develop pathways to college career certificates and degrees and facilitate transition of CTE students from secondary to post-secondary programs of study.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate efforts with newly formed South Metro Consortium involving Inver Hills CC and area school districts.
  • Promote the use of career pathways to potential CTE students through the development of quality educational programming.
  • Collaborate with area businesses, agencies, community and service organizations to enhance the retention, educational success and employability of graduating students.

 

Reports to

Director of Disability and Career Services.

 

Supervises

  • Student worker.
  • Master's degree in Education or related field.
  • Knowledgeable of CTE programming.
  • Experience preparing proposals and grant applications.
  • Experience in the areas of marketing, planning and implementation of promotional campaigns.

 

Salary

$39,087 - $57,336

RESPONSIBILITIES:

To team plan, implement and evaluate project based activities that develop thinking and basic skills and that foster career exploration for youth in a coordinated summer employment and education program.

• Facilitate activities which encourage youth to plan, implement and evaluate projects

• Facilitate learning activities which help students to maintain and/or increase their reading and math skills and that encourage career exploration

• Participate, as part of a team, in selecting and acquiring supplies and materials

• Develop and write learning activities in format provided

• Communicate regularly with program director and training coordinator Cooperate with partners on program implementation

• Learning Center - facilitate activities that encourage communication among learning center staff, the youth and the youths' work site supervisor(s)

• Learning Center - facilitate day-to-day operations with on site partner staff

• Learning Center - be trained in and follow lunch policies for school lunch distribution

• Coordinate planning, implementing and evaluating work based learning activities with work site supervisor(s) when appropriate

• Cooperate with partners involved with program

• Implement relevant guidelines, policies and procedures from City of Minneapolis

• Step-Up Program “Supervisor Guide" Maintain records and prepare reports

• Keep daily attendance records and report attendance as assigned

• Complete registrations

• Administer pre- and post-tests in reading and math and administer other assessment tools as assigned

• Prepare documents for diploma credits Participate in evaluation process

• Facilitate program evaluation activities as assigned

• Attend weekly planning and evaluation sessions

• Facilitate daily participant evaluations of learning activities

• Meet with team leaders as scheduled Fulfill general responsibilities of position

• Maintain regular and punctual schedule

• Follow agency and professional ethics guidelines and policies

• Participate in agency functions

• Complete all other duties as may be assigned

• Enjoy working with, primarily, 14-15 year old youth • Possess the motivation to embrace change and to implement program and team goals

Salary

$17.00 per hour

AVAILABLE:APRIL 2008 THROUGH AUGUST 15, 2008

HOURS: Up to 200 through May;

40 hours/week June – August 15

DAYS: Monday – Friday

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Co-plan curriculum development and give leadership in documenting curriculum.

• Participate in selecting and ordering materials and supplies.

• Organize curriculum and program materials.

• Facilitate program evaluation activities as assigned. Participate as a member of the leadership team.

• Assist in planning and conducting teacher training.

• Give leadership in planning and facilitating weekly staff meetings.

• Develop activities that support program goals and staff knowledge of goals. Cooperate with partners on program implementation.

• Maintain records and prepare reports.

• Facilitate pre- and post-testing in reading and math and related documentation.

• Cooperate with partners involved with program.

• Implement relevant guidelines , policies and procedures from City of Minneapolis Step-Up Program “Supervisor Guide.”

Foster an atmosphere of critical reflection on our work that enables us to facilitate learning which challenges the majority of youth and retains the largest number of youth possible.
